Insurance Adjuster - NYC

Vanguard is hiring and looking for a motivated driven Field Adjuster to be a part of our continued growth. In this role our Field Adjuster will adjust claims within the New York City/Long Island region. 

The individual we are seeking will be responsible for adjusting major and complex commercial and residential losses in addition to standard losses.  This is a w2 opportunity that includes a great benefits package.  So, if this is of interest, we would like to hear from you.  

Specific duties include: 

• Investigate property and commercial losses by interviewing the insured and examining damages. 


• Write and prepare estimates to determine the fair value of losses within authority.   


• Make timely decisions by analyzing information gathered during investigation, appropriately analyze coverage, determine liability and evaluate damages.


• Write reports and submit them in accordance with carrier’s SLAs (First Notice of Loss and Final Reports) along with payment recommendations to clients.


• Interact with insureds, brokers, and other claims professionals


• Operate independently within authority limits


• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the claims process.

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.  Applicable active license in New York.  


•  At least 10-15 years experience as a Field Adjuster experienced with large loss  commercial claims. 


• Must have a valid driver's license.


• Ability to climb ladders to inspect roofing/structural damage.


• Must own necessary equipment to inspect loss (ladder, measuring tools, etc.) 


• Ability to identify damages and properly present this information in reports to client while logging and maintaining file notes per carrier guidelines


• Ability to identify subrogation and salvage opportunities


• Requires knowledge of coverages provided within various homeowner and commercial policies.


• Capability of writing structural damage estimates of moderate to severe losses.


• Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment.


• Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.


• Strong experience in report writing and ability to complete reports within carrier’s SLAs.


• Professional communication with policy holders, claim management and insurance company personnel.


• Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.


• Computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems and analytical skills.


• Proficiency in all aspects of Xactimate.  


• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
